Associate Professor Stephen Tay obtained his PhD from Imperial College London under the National Research Foundation (Clean Energy) Overseas Scholarship before joining the Department of the Built Environment in the National University of Singapore (NUS). His work on scenario-based student generated questions and answers (sb-SGQA) was presented in the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL21) Conference as a Paper and Workshop in October 2021, and subsequently clinched the Best Presentation Award in the EASEC-17 Symposium on "Teaching and Learning During and After Pandemic" (June 2022) and the Best Paper Presentation Award in the Higher Education Campus Conference (December 2022). Since then, his work on sb-SGQA has been employed by colleagues beyond the Department, College, and University. In recognition of his teaching excellence in NUS, Assoc. Prof. Tay was awarded the Annual Teaching Excellence Award for three consecutive years from 2021 to 2023. He is currently an Associate Fellow of the NUS Teaching Academy, that functions as a think tank for educational matters.
